Is the segway active experience for everyone?

Yes, it most certainly is – as long as you are in good health and can stand up for an hour! However, you do need to be aged 12 years or over and meet our weight conditions, as our Segway’s have minimum/maximum weights to operate properly.

  • Maximum weight limit is 120kg (18.8 stone).
  • Lower weight limit is 45kg (7.08 stone).
  • Minimum age is 12 years.

If you are not in good health you should NOT participate. If you have any of the following conditions you should seek medical advice before participating and speak to the instructor.

  • High Blood Pressure
  • Heart Condition
  • Suffer from Dizziness or Epilepsy
  • Asthma
  • Pregnancy
  • Damage to neck, back, spinal column, legs or eyes
  • Any old injuries or broken bones

Segway Active riders 16 years old and under must be at least seven stone and are required to be accompanied  by an adult on the activity.

How long does the experience last?

Our standard Segway Active Experience lasts an hour and starts with full instructions and a safety briefing on our flat training zone. This gives you the chance to master your Segway in a controlled environment. Once you’ve become a capable rider, you’ll be let loose on our off road track, accompanied by our experienced instructors.

We also have a 30 minute taster Segway Adventure Experience.

Where is Segway Active located?

We’re located at the National Diving & Activity Centre, which is located 1.2 miles east of Chepstow on the A48. It is well signposted and easily accessible from the M4, M48 and M5. The post code for your Sat Nav is NP16 7LH.

Is it Safe?

As with any adventure, there are always risks, but you’ll be in safe hands if you follow our safety procedures and our instructors’ lead.

You’ll also be given safety gear – helmet, knee and elbow pads – to help keep you out of harm's way.

What time do I need to arrive?

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your agreed booking time. If you arrive early, you can always grab a drink or snack in our licensed café bar, The View.

If you’re late and miss your session, you’ll be charged at full price. Please allow plenty of time to get there.

Is there anywhere to grab a drink or food before or after my Segway active experience?

Yes, The View Café Bar serves a variety of food for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with breathtaking views overlooking the Chepstow quarry.

Please note that Segway Active riders should not consume any alcohol prior to their activity. Anyone suspected of being intoxicated will be unable to participate in their session for their safety and the safety of other riders. Under these circumstances, there will be no refunds.

Do I need to bring anything and what should i wear?

No, just bring yourself.

Please wear something you don’t mind getting dirty, as this is an outdoor activity. Casual and comfortable is important.

If it’s raining, waterproofs are suggested.

When it’s cold, we recommend you wear gloves.

Please wear sensible footwear. Secure, flat-bottomed closed toed shoes, such as trainers or boots, are recommended. No sandals or high heels.

Do we still ride in bad weather?

We’ll ride in the rain or if it’s cold. However, in extreme weather conditions, i.e. floods, high wind, thunderstorms or snow, we’ll contact you.

If you have any concerns, though, please call ahead. 

If we need to cancel your session, we’ll reschedule your experience at a mutually convenient time. No refunds will be given.

What if I need to amend my booking?

What is your refund and cancellation policy?

Segway Active will refund Segway Active Experiences and vouchers purchased directly from NDAC ltd within seven days of purchase minus a £5 administration fee. After seven days, no refund will be available.
